Position: Senior Project Engineer

Report to: Power and Industrial Group Manager

Department: National Industrial

 

Essential Functions: Provide technical guidance for power and industrial projects.  Purchase distribution equipment, cables, cable tray, and electrical bulks.  Confirm vendor drawings comply with specification and field requirements.  Perform constructability reviews of engineering drawings.  Write RFIs for the field.  Complete submittals for all contractor purchased items for owner review and approval.

 

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering. Preference for a Professional Engineer.
  • Must be willing to temporarily relocate.
  • Extensive knowledge of the NFPA 70 and 70E with emphasis on electrical construction. Participation in multiple NEC Code courses and classes required.
  • Extensive electrical design experience in power generation, data centers, automotive, industrial and heavy commercial projects. Power distribution and control system design experience should include feeder and branch circuit design, one-line development, lighting calculations and layout, electrical equipment, conduit and cable tray layouts, FA, CCTV and Security system selection and installation drawings and details.
  • Extensive field experience with hands-on approach to MV and LV electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, MCC's, starters, drive systems, PLC's and control systems.
  • Previous Field Service Engineer for large electrical equipment supplier is a plus.
  • Extensive electrical construction experience including estimating, material procurement, installation details, best installation practices and cable pull calculations.
  • Proficient at identifying engineering and design issues during preconstruction and able to provide proactive solutions for such issues.
  • Technically proficient in the vendor submittal review process and be able to identify installation and constructability issues with resolutions.
