DEPARTMENT: National Commercial

POSITION: On Site Estimator

REPORTS TO:  Site Lead Project Manager




The Estimator will provide estimating services including material take-offs, data entry utilizing Accubid estimating software, material pricing requests, specification review, scope review and evaluation of labor installation conditions.  This will be performed for change orders and competitive estimates.  In addition, the duties will include providing project support duties as requested by the Lead Project Manager.




  • Perform basic symbol counts (take-offs utilizing Accubid's LiveCount software) from construction drawings and blueprints.
  • Input take-off counts into computer utilizing estimating software and all available take off tools including designations, hot list and assemblies, etc.
  • Determine basic material requirements from electrical technical specifications.
  • Set-up breakdowns, update labor, expenses, and final pricing screens.
  • Record information/clarifications and any items of risk discovered during take-off and document review that may be pertinent to the scope/clarification document.
  • Navigate through the National Electrical Code for specific references and utilize tables applicable to take-offs.


Estimating Administration

  • Provide onsite Project Management with initial relevant Accubid training and troubleshoot issues related to Accubid software on an ongoing basis.

Maintain Accubid material and labor databases for Site database.  Coordinate this effort with Corporate Central Estimating.



  • Associates Degree or equivalent work experience in a corporate setting
  • 5 years electrical estimating experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work within a team with a high degree of organization and positive attitude
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Accubid software (Word, Excel, BlueBeam, and LiveCount required)
  • Ability to effectively utilize and implement technology and a commitment to learn in the technology environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Willingness to work long hours in response to project needs.
  • Thorough understanding of labor risk factors including but not limited to location, weather, labor availability, installation difficulty, and scheduling.
  • Advanced knowledge of all standard electrical systems in commercial, data center and institutional construction projects.
  • Physical - Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs, extended standing, reaching, stooping, kneeling and crouching, ability to use hands and arms to grasp and manipulate objects.
